Tobu and his Bananas-Sharing Food for Happiness
Tobu was a little happy monkey in a beautiful jungle. One sunny day Tobu and his friends found a big bunch of bananas in the forest. The bananas were green and hard. They were not ready to eat yet, but the monkeys were very excited!
The story of a little monkey.
Tobu said to his friends, "I will take these bananas to my house. When they turn yellow and sweet, I will call you. We will have a big party and share them all.'' His friends said, "Okay, Tobu! We will wait for your call."
Tobu took the bananas home. His mom and dad had to go away for a few days, so Tobu was all by himself. He looked at the green bananas every day, waiting for them to change. He started to think, "If I share these, I will only get a few. If I keep them a secret, I can eat every single one by myself!" He decided not to tell his friends when the fruit got soft.
A few days later, the bananas turned a beautiful, bright yellow. They smelled delicious! Tobu’s mouth watered. He was so greedy that he tried to eat them slowly, but there were too many for one little monkey.
The next morning, Tobu ran to eat his feast. But oh no! The bananas were not yellow anymore. They were black, mushy, and smelly. They had rotted because in the summer, he waited long. He couldn't even eat one banana! Tobu had no bananas to eat, and he felt very sad and lonely.
Just then, his mom and dad came home. Tobu told them everything. He said, "I was greedy and didn't share. Now all the bananas are ruined." He felt bad for breaking his promise to his friends.
His parents were not angry. They gave him a big hug and said, "If you share your food, your tummy is full and your heart is happy. But if you keep it all, it just goes to waste.
