Magic Shoes: See Through Others' Eyes

Kuki was a small baby koala with fluffy ears and a very big smile. He lived in a tall, leafy eucalyptus tree. Kuki was famous for being the most joyful koala in the forest. He loved his home, he loved his snacks, and most of all, he loved his friends.
A story to understand the world
One sunny morning, Kuki and his friends were playing a game. They scrambled up the trunks and hopped from branch to branch. Kuki was very fast! He felt like he was flying through the green leaves. He was having so much fun.

Kuki climbed onto a high, hidden branch and found something interesting. It was a small, round nest made of soft grass and tiny twigs. There were no birds inside at the moment, and no eggs. To Kuki, it looked like a perfect, fuzzy ball.

"Look at this!" Kuki cheered. Without thinking for a second, he grabbed the nest and threw it. "Catch!" he yelled to his friends. But the nest wasn't a ball. It hit the ground far below with a soft thud and began to fall apart. Kuki laughed, thinking it was a funny game.

Kuki’s mother had been watching from a nearby branch. She didn't yell, but her face looked very sad. She climbed over and sat next to Kuki. "Kuki," she said softly, "we need to talk about what you just did. That wasn't a toy; that was someone's home.
"Kuki," Mother Koala said, "it is time to use your Magic Shoes. Close your eyes and pretend you are the tiny bird who built that nest. Imagine you worked all day carrying twigs. Imagine coming home tired and seeing your house gone. How would you feel?"
Kuki closed his eyes. He imagined himself being very small. He thought about how he would feel if he came home to his favorite tree and found his bed missing. Suddenly, he didn't feel like laughing anymore. He felt a little "ouch" in his heart thinking about the nest. "I would feel very sad and scared," Kuki whispered.

Kuki climbed down the tree as fast as he could. He carefully picked up the grass and twigs. With his mother's help, he put the nest back in a safe spot. He promised to always use his "Magic Shoes" before he acted. He wanted to be a koala who was not just fast and joyful, but also very kind.

Kuki learned that the forest is a home for everyone. For understanding the world, it is necessary to take a moment to imagine how others feel. He realised that being strong and fast is good, but being kind is the greatest power of all.
Lesson: Treat every home and every heart with care. Before you act, put on your "Magic Shoes" to see the world through someone else’s eyes.
