Joy's Birthday-Happiness with Gratitude

Today is Joy’s big birthday, and he is very excited! He invited all of his favorite friends over to celebrate with him. They played fun games together and ate a yummy birthday cake. Joy felt so happy when he opened all of his colorful presents. It was a wonderful day filled with lots of laughter and smiles!
A story begins with a B'day gift
At the end of the party, Joy’s parents surprised him with a brand-new bicycle. Joy did not smile and made a very grumpy face instead. He was disappointed because he really wanted a toy car just like his friend Sunny. He thought the bicycle was not as cool as a fast car. His parents hoped that he would still try his new cycle and have fun.

"I don't want a bicycle," Joy grumbled. "I wanted a car like Sunny’s." He sat with a very grumpy face.
His Grandfather noticed Joy’s sad eyes. He didn't get angry. Instead, he said, "Joy, let’s go for an evening walk together."

As they walked down the road, they saw a group of children playing near a small house. The children were jumping, running, and laughing so loudly that the whole street felt happy.
These children did not have any expensive toys. They were playing with very simple and old things. Still, they were having the best time ever.

Grandfather stopped and whispered, "Look at them, Joy. They don't have a car or a bike. They only have a ball and each other, yet they are the happiest children I see today."
Joy felt a little bit ashamed. He thought about his new, red bicycle. He realised that while he was busy being grumpy about what he didn't have, he forgot to enjoy what he did have.

While returning home, Joy took his Grandfather’s hand and said, "I understand now, Grandpa. Being happy isn't about having the most expensive toy. It’s about being happy with what you have."

Joy ran back home and gave his parents a big hug. "Thank you for my bicycle!" he shouted. "I love it!" Joy's parents were also very happy because he accepted the gift."

The next morning, Joy woke up with a big smile and ran outside to his new red bicycle. He pedalled fast on the morning road. He realised that riding a bicycle was actually the best fun ever. Joy felt very happy inside because he remembered to be thankful for his wonderful birthday gift.
Lessons: Gratitude must be in our nature. We should always be grateful for whatever we have in our lives.
