Integrity: Be Your Own Hero
Dany had a dream. He wanted the new "Space Explorer" video game more than anything. Every day, he saved his pocket money in a small, brown purse. He counted the coins every evening, dreaming of the day he would finally have enough to buy the game.
Dany's dream

One sunny afternoon, Dany took his purse to the park to spend some money on ice cream. He played for a while, but when it was time to go home, he reached to the ice cream shop and searched in his pocket. But he felt nothing. His purse was gone! He looked everywhere, but he couldn't find it. He went home feeling very sad and worried that his game dream was over.

The very next day, as Dany was walking home from school, something caught his eye. It was sparkling in the grass by the side of the road. He picked it up and saw it was a beautiful gold ring with a bright stone. It looked very expensive.

Dany’s heart raced. He thought, "If I sell this ring, I will have enough money to buy the video game today!" He looked around. The road was empty. No one saw him pick it up. He felt like he had found a secret treasure that would solve all his problems.

As he walked home, Dany told himself, "No one will ever know. It’s not like I stole it; I just found it. It’s my lucky break." He was already planning which store he would visit to sell the ring. He felt excited, but deep down, a small voice in his head felt a little bit uncomfortable.

That evening, Dany went back to the park, still feeling upset about his lost purse. Suddenly, a young girl from his neighborhood, who didn't have much money of her own, ran up to him. She was holding his brown purse! "I found this at the park yesterday," she said with a kind smile. "I saw your name on the inside, and I wanted to return it to you."

Dany took his purse. All his coins were still inside. He looked at the girl and felt a sudden wave of heat in his cheeks. She was poor, yet she had been honest and kind enough to return his money. He, on the other hand, was planning to keep the ring he found just for a video game. He felt deeply ashamed of his choice.

Dany realized that integrity isn't about being seen by others; it’s about the person you are when you are alone. He looked at the ring in his pocket. He knew what he had to do to be proud of himself. "I will be my own hero," he whispered. He decided he would take the ring to the local police station to find its real owner, instead of selling it.

Dany walked to the police station and handed in the ring. He didn't get a video game that day, but he got something much better. As he walked home, he felt light, happy, and truly strong inside. He realized that the pride of doing the right thing was worth much more than any toy. He had won the biggest game of all: the game of character.

Moral : The true mark of a hero is choosing to do the right thing when no one is watching, because the pride of having an honest heart is a reward greater than any treasure.
